iamindependent's service for independent consultants is called MyWorkZone, and it allows you to have the best of both worlds - independence and stability. You also get "big company" support services and liability protection, which would be nearly impossible for you to get on your own.

You have the flexibility to determine which clients you work for, how much you charge for your services and when and where you perform your services. You can also deduct all your IRS allowable business expenses - pre-tax - just as if you were self-incorporated or self-employed.

We become your portable employer - your W-2 employer of record - that you can take with you from contract to contract, or even on simultaneous contracts at the same time. For example, if you choose to participate in our health insurance or retirement plans, you would have continuous coverage and access as long as you are a member of our service. You could also be eligible for Unemployment benefits in between assignments when you are not working, and you are covered under Workers Compensation.

Have access to your own dedicated administrative person between the hours of 9:00 AM EST and 8:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday. iamindependent does all your billing and collections, and we run payroll and reimburse expenses on a weekly basis. We help you with contract review and negotiations. We also carry Commercial General Liability, Errors and Omissions [a.k.a. Professional Liability], Auto Liability, Personal and Advertising Injury, and a host of other business insurances.
