Information Technology Association of America
The ITAA web site provides information about the IT industry, its issues, association programs, publications, meetings, seminars and more for its 26,000 members.

Institute of Management Consultants
IMC USA exists to establish professional and ethical standards for management consultants. Through regional chapters, the IMC provides continuing education and information relevant to the management consulting profession, including how to market and manage solo practices. IMC USA seeks to increase the public's awareness of the management consulting profession.

IEEE
A global association of engineers, scientists and allied professionals having interests rooted in electrical engineering and computer sciences, and related disciplines. This organization claims thousands of chapters and hundreds of thousands of members worldwide. Some chapters are more active than others. Many chapters reach out to the academics in the field.

Independent Human Resource Consultants Association
IHRCA is an Association dedicated to promoting the use and understanding of the role of the Independent Human Resource Consultant.

Women in Technology International
Women in Information Technology International, was founded to increase the number of women in the engineering and science profession. It helps them become financially savvy and independent, and technologically literate and competitive. A comprehensive site, chock full of resources for the practicing professional and student alike. Several chapters around the US and world bring attention to its cause to the private and public sector.

American Institute of Graphic Arts
The premiere organization of its kind, the AIGA provides a FAQ for members and non-members and sponsors several events.

Association for Information Technology Professionals
It is what it says, and despite its use of the word "synergy" it seems to have its roots in the early days and to be the more staid of the computer organizations.

BDPA
The Black Data Processing Association addresses issues for all minorities in all IT professions.

Graphic Artists Guild
An advocacy group for graphic artists, the GAG provides resources such as copyright information and advice on health insurance providers. You can also access guidelines for ethics and pricing, as well as a directory of members and chapters.

Independent Computer Consultants Association
This group, with a national membership of approximately 1,500, is exactly what its name implies.

PATCA
The Professional and Technical Consultants Association is a consortium of computing and engineering consultants that offers its directory of members to companies for the asking. PATCA disseminates rate information and holds meetings, primarily on the west coast, with guest speakers and special programs for new consultants.

National Association for the Self-Employed
A very active lobbying group that educates the self-employed on legal, financial, and other issues.

Software Contractors Guild
One of the earliest organized associations for IT contractors, SCG is all volunteer organization. This is a great source for contractors wishing to post a resume, and therefore, a great source for recruiting firms.

National Foundation for Women Business Owners
NFWBO is dedicated to researching and supporting women business owners and their companies. Their research publications are for sale, and their leadership events are open to all female business owners.

Tech Corps
